Sentence Seeds

The balloon lifted off the ground, quickly leaving the mud-filled path. After being forced down by the beating rain, the flame finally got strong enough to fill the balloon with enough hot air to fly up again. The basket was relieved from all the extra weight to keep them from coming down again.

Shouts filled the air, struggling to win in volume against the thunderstorm raging above. Lightnings struck and thunders roared. They were lucky to avoid all of the strikes, lest their balloon burned, but the relief didn't last long. They had to get out of this storm.

"Hold on tight!" the woman shouted as she threw out the bags of sand attached to the basket to keep them down. "Don't let go whatever happens!"

The boy grabbed the edge of the basket tightly and ducked down, huddling himself to feel warmer. He stared up and saw the woman still struggling to keep them up and away from the storm. At that time, he finally saw how strong she really was, not only mentally, but also physically.

"Vicky I want to help," the boy said as he gripped the edge even tighter and looked up determinedly at the woman. "What can I do?"

"Just stay there and don't get thrown out," Victoria said. "I don't know what I'd do if you get thrown out."

"But--"

"We'll get out of this storm soon."

Five minutes after she said that, the storm died down and the rainbow came.
